Refund Policy

1. Overview
Shar Voyage operates as a U.S.-based marketplace that connects travelers with licensed Bhutanese tour operators. All bookings are subject to Bhutan’s tourism regulations and the partner operator’s refund conditions. This policy explains how cancellations, changes, and refunds are handled when bookings are made through Shar Voyage.
Please read this policy carefully before booking. By confirming a reservation with Shar Voyage, you agree to the terms outlined below.
2. Cancellation by the traveler
For standard 3-star hotel booking during non-festival times, the following cancellation policy is in effect.
- 30 days or more before arrival: Full refund of the tour price minus a 3% processing fee and any non-refundable banking or card charges.
- 15–30 days: 75% refund of the tour price.
- 7–15 days: 50% refund of the tour price.
- less than 7 days/no-show: No refund will be issued.
Refunds are based on the date Shar Voyage receives your written cancellation request. “Tour price” refers to the amount paid for the ground package (exclusive of flights or add-ons).
3. Changes and amendments
Minor date or itinerary adjustments requested more than 30 days before departure can often be made without penalty, subject to availability. Within 30 days, additional fees may apply based on partner and government processing requirements.
4. Cancellation by partner or Shar Voyage
If a tour operator or Shar Voyage must cancel a confirmed trip due to unforeseen circumstances (e.g., natural disaster, border closure, insufficient group size), travelers will be offered the choice of:
- a full refund of payments received, or
- a credit for re-booking within 12 months.
5. Non-refundable items
- Airline tickets and associated fees once issued.
- Bank transfer, credit-card, or payment-gateway charges.
- Visa fees and Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) once submitted to authorities.
6. Refund method and timing
Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method in U.S. dollars. Processing may take 10–15 business days after written confirmation. Exchange-rate differences or intermediary bank charges may slightly affect the final credited amount.
7. Contact for refund requests
To initiate a refund or cancellation, please email info@sharvoyage.com with your booking reference, traveler name, and reason for cancellation. Our support team will confirm eligibility and next steps within two business days.
8. Force Majeure
Shar Voyage and its partner operators cannot be held responsible for delays or losses resulting from events beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to weather conditions, flight disruptions, or governmental restrictions. In such cases, we will work with partners to secure the most flexible resolution available.
