Traveler Rights

Helpful guidance and resources for documents, protections, and issues that may arise before or during your trip.

Before you travel

  • Ensure your passport has at least 6 months’ validity beyond your travel dates.
  • Confirm visa requirements and Bhutan’s Sustainable Development Fee (SDF) policies for your nationality.
  • Consider travel insurance covering medical, evacuation, and trip interruption.

If plans change

Review the Booking Conditions and your specific operator’s policy. Contact your operator and Shar Voyage support promptly—we’ll help explore options.

Common protections

Depending on your home country, you may have consumer protections related to payments, advertising, or cancellations. Your credit card provider may also offer dispute mechanisms for qualifying cases.

On-trip support

If you encounter a service issue, notify your guide/operator immediately so they can help on the spot. Keep receipts and notes; this helps if follow-up is needed.

Emergency contacts

We recommend carrying local emergency numbers and embassy/consulate contacts for Bhutan or the nearest location serving your nationality.
